Situated in the center of Paris in front of the Dôme des Invalides, the pavillion for the Balenciaga Summer 2024 show is concealed behind an ultra high-fidelity trompe l'oeil of the Invalides itself. The interior scenography is composed of theatrical red curtains which are draped around the periphery. The architecture references, the semiotics of theater, yet the classical proportions of the stage are stretched and exaggerated to a grand scale. The audience, seated in the center in tiers of 'opera' seats, experience a 360-degree view of the models on an elevated catwalk in contrast against the monochromatic red space.
